Security guard battles for life after asking residents to stop playing loud music in Ghaziabad

A 45-year-old gunman of a security agency was brutally thrashed with wooden sticks by a group of men at the gate of Shalimar City apartments in the Sahibabad area of Ghaziabad after he tried to stop them from playing loud music inside their flat as the other residents complained. He battling for his life at the GTB hospital in Dilshad Garden with multiple injuries.

In the wee hours of Sunday, Vinod Kumar, a gunman with the GSIS security agency for the past two years, was brutally beaten by a group of men. They also recorded a video of the incident. The police have registered an FIR against 12 men (eight named and four unnamed). Two men have been arrested and sent to jail on Monday.

According to the Chief Medical Officer of the GTB hospital at Dilshad Garden, the victim was brought to the hospital at around 4:30 am in a pool of blood.

"He was unconscious and had several injuries on the body. After keeping him in the Emergency for three hours, he was transferred to the neurology department where his head injuries were taken care of. After carrying out scans, there were minor internal injuries on his head due to which he is still unconscious. He has also received six stitches on his left ear," said Shivesh Pandey, CMO of GTB hospital.

On Sunday night, he was shifted to orthopaedic department as he received hairline fractures on his hip and right leg.

"Currently, we have shifted him to the general ward and he is under observation and kept on the life support system. His internal head injuries are a major concern at the moment. We are keeping an eye on his health. He will require a lot of time to recover," said Pandey.

On Saturday night, at around 2 am, the security had received several calls from the residents about residents of a flat creating nuisance in the society by playing loud music and drinking in the balcony area and talking loudly. After which some of the security guards and the gunman went to their house to request them to lower the sound as the residents were getting troubled.

"They initially stopped the music but later came to the guard room which is near the society gate and snatched the wooden sticks from their hands and attacked the guards and even vandalised the entire guard room. While Kumar was brutally beaten as they got hold of him," said Pakanj Singh, the security head of the society.

Following which an FIR was registered against 12 people and two people have been arrested.

"We have registered a case under section 147(rioting), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 308(Attempt to commit culpable homicide), 504(Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the Indian Penal code. Two named accused Manish Singh and Aman have been arrested and sent to jail. While teams have been formed to arrest the other accused," said Akash Tomar, Superintendent Of Police (City).

Police said that Kumar hails from Etawah.
