South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) gets it new Mayor on Friday. BJP's Subhash Arya beats Congress' Farhad Suri by 19 votes and gets elected as SDMC's new Mayor. Suri, currently, Leader of Opposition in SDMC offered a stiff competition to his BJP rival Subhash Arya, presently chairman of the civic body's standing committee.
The five-year tenure for the Mayor post sees five single-year terms on a rotation basis, with the first year being reserved for women, the second for open category, third for reserved category, and the remaining two also being in open category.
