A 54-year-old woman was injured after a thief, in an attempt to snatch her earrings, damaged both her earlobes in Dwarka's Bindapur area on Thursday afternoon.

This is the second incident in the week when miscreants tried to snatch earrings of women, damaging their earlobes. The Delhi Police have registered a case and begun investigations.

According to the police, the victim identified as Kamla Bharti (54) in her statement told the police that she resides in Vikaspuri and was on her way to purchase fruits in Uttam Nagar when the incident took place.

"It was around 2 pm when I was on my way to the market to buy fruits. When I was standing between metro pillar 639 and 640 a man, who seemed to be around 25-years old, came from behind and snatched my earrings and fled. He ran towards the Uttam Nagar bus terminal and despite my efforts to catch him he fled away. Later, I realised that both my ears were bleeding," Bharti said in her statement.

The victim was rushed to Deen Dayal hospital for treatment and her son was informed. The victim was asked to report the matter to Bindapur police station as the crime scene falls under their jurisdiction.

On Wednesday another woman was hurt in a similar way when robbers snatched her earrings in the same area. Further investigations are underway.
