Civic bodies launch 24-hr helpline

The helpline will help register complaints like waterlogging, collapse of buildings, etc

    The East Delhi Municipal Corporation and North Delhi Municipal Corporation have launched a 24-hour helpline to help register complaints like waterlogging, uprooting of trees/branches, collapse of buildings, etc, during monsoon.

    Speaking on this, North Corporation Mayor Preety Agarwal said that these helplines would help residents get immediate help and response.

    "Our control rooms will cater to public complaints directly. Officials have already been instructed to monitor the process to ensure proper and timely action is taken."

    All control rooms are equipped with manpower and essential machinery including portable pump sets. The corporation if need be, will work in coordination with the other agencies like Delhi Police, PWD, DDA, Flood Control, and the Irrigation Department, etc, to respond to complaints faster to help citizens.

    Meanwhile, East Delhi Mayor Neema Bhagat said that one truck is being deployed for the day shift and two departmental trucks are kept on stand-by in both the zonal offices to attend any emergency calls.

    Staff from the engineering department, environment management services and horticulture department will be available at the in-charge control room.
