When Virat Kohli walked in to bat at No. 4, the crowd at Adelaide Oval booed the Indian skipper on Day 3 of the ongoing first Test between India and Australia on Saturday.

However, Kohli won hearts and probably made new fans after a gesture towards Aussie cricketer Aaron Finch who was hit by the ball at short leg.

Kohli flicked Aussie spinner Nathan Lyon, only to hit Aaron Finch on his throat. Finch was in extreme pain. Realising that, Kohli stopped Lyon from bowling the next delivery while he was in his bowling stride to attend Finc.

The incident, that took place in the 34th over of the second innings, showed irrespective of the banters and sledging, there is mutual respect between the arch-rivals.

Earlier in the day, Kohli became the fastest Indian batsman to 1,000 Test runs in Australia during Day 3 at the Adelaide Oval.

The Indian skipper needed just 18 innings to reach the 1,000-run mark Down Under.

Overall, Kohli became the fourth Indian to do so after Sachin Tendulkar (1809), VVS Laxman (1236) and Rahul Dravid (1143).
