Virat Kohli's passion for maintaining a high level of fitness is well documented. The Indian captain and arguably the best batsman in the world was chubby as a kid. Even when he made his international debut, Kohli was famous for having baby fat, especially on his cheeks. That's the reason why he's called 'Cheeku' by his near and dear ones.

After making his mark on the big stage and realising his potential a few years ago, Kohli decided to get fitter and opted for a strict diet and exercise routine. The results of which have been there for all to see, what with the right-hander going on a century-making spree in all formats of the game. He often posts videos of his intense work-outs on his social media pages, too.

Now, Kohli has decided to take his fitness game to the next level. According to a report by The Times of India, the 29-year-old turned vegan four months ago and is loving the effects of it. His diet now includes protein shakes, vegetables and soya, with no sign of meat, eggs and dairy products.

"Kohli started this diet four months ago and is feeling stronger as his digestive power has increased. He isn't missing meat, eggs or dairy," the report quoted a source as saying. "Two years ago, when he was on a normal diet, he had said that he would go vegan if given a choice. He is now feeling stronger than before," added the source.

Kohli, who is married to actress Anushka Sharma, was in the news on Sunday for his request to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to allow wives of players to extend their stay during overseas tours. Reacting to the same, Committee of Administrators sources told ANI: "Yes, he (Virat) had requested, but we are not going to take any decision soon. We have said that we will leave it to the new office bearers. The policy will not change now."

Earlier this year, the BCCI had announced that wives and girlfriends of cricketers will be allowed to stay with their partners for a duration of two weeks while the team is touring overseas.
