After losing the first Twenty20 International (T20I) to hosts Australia by just four runs, Virat Kohli's boys were eager to equalise the series at 1-1 and force the third and final match to be played as a decider in Sydney.
However, the rain gods had other plans. It began pouring and stopped Australia's innings at 134 in 19 overs and the match never resumed after that before it was officially called off due to lack of time.
Ben McDermott made 32 not out off 30 balls before scurrying off the ground with batting partner Andrew Tye.
The umpires first considered a 19-overs-a-side game before setting India a revised target of 90 from 11 overs to level the series.
However, with the rain returning, the match was eventually called off.
Australia, who clinched the rain-hit series opener in Brisbane, will carry a 1-0 lead into Sunday's final match in Sydney, which will be a must-win match for the tourists in order to save the series.
In the first game as well, the Duckworth-Lewis method due to the rain delay eventually had proved to be expensive for Kohli and Co and that was one of the reasons behind their loss.
Now that India can only win the final match and square the series 1-1, the rains have ended their winning streak of seven series on the trot and that did not go too well with the Indian fans, who exploded on Twitter to express their opinion on how India have been robbed of two victories by the rain.

Meanwhile, there was an Australian fan who thought the same as well:
I would like to thank the rains for saving Australia. The Englishmen Dickhead & Loose were haunting me today as well. We will come with all guns blazing in the final match.
