Rashid Khan was at his absolute best on Friday as he guided Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to the final of the 2018 Indian Premier League (IPL). 19-year-old Khan single-handedly took SRH home, against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the second Qualifier of the IPL 2018, at the Eden Gardens on Friday.

His performances has earned the highest praise from batting legend Sachin Tendulkar who said that the Afghan spinner is the best in the world in Twenty20s.

“Always felt @rashidkhan_19 was a good spinner but now I wouldn’t hesitate in saying he is the best spinner in the world in this format. Mind you, he’s got some batting skills as well. Great guy,” tweeted Tendulkar.

Rashid also got some praise from one of the greatest spinners ever- Shane Warne.

Khan is the currently the second highest wicket-taker in IPL 2018 with 21 scalps, only behind Kings XI Punjab’s Andrew Tye.

Rashid made significant contributions in all three departments on Friday. He made a 10-ball 34 to take his team to a respectable 174/7 and then took three wickets for just 19 runs from his four overs. Rashid took two crucial catches and effected one run-out.

“It was much-needed for me, wanted to give my 100 percent in all departments. Focus was to just believe in my skills. I was happy with the batting, it was needed in the end. I started my career as a batsman, I believe in my skills and wanted to finish off well. I just tried to pick the lengths, the focus was to play straight. That was the plan from the senior players,” said Khan after being named the Man-of-the-Match.
