Australian fast bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile has slammed Justin Langer and the Aussie team management for poor communication after he was ignored for the upcoming three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against India.

Cricket Australia earlier announced a 13-man ODI squad which included several shocking inclusions and exclusions. While they recalled veterans like Peter Siddle, Usman Khawaja and Nathan Lyon, they had dropped the likes of Travis Head, Chris Lynn, D'Arcy Short and Ben McDermott and allrounder Ashton Agar.

The star pace trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood was ordered to rest and they had made a special mention about fast bowler Coulter-Nile saying that he has been left out because he is suffering lower back soreness.

The 31-year-old pacer, who has “history of back problems” said it was necessary for head coach Langer to check with him if he was fit before announcing the ODI squad. Although Coulter-Nile has no issues of getting dropped from the side, he just felt the communication used to be a little better earlier.

“I think communication used to be a little better. I have no issue with being dropped, I just like to get a clear message about why -- I was told it was because I had a sore back.

"JL (coach Justin Langer) asked me when they were selecting the team, I said I have a sore back but I haven't had a scan yet. With my history, it was just better off to check it. I think communication used to be a little bit better - from everyone," he told ESPNCricinfo.

Coulter-Nile, who has played 22 ODIs for Australia, last played in the 50-over format last against South Africa at home. He has picked 38 wickets so far with a bowling average of 26.60.

Earlier, New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson had replaced Coulter-Nile in the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad for the 2019 season of the Indian Premier League.
