Of late, there has been a huge change in the way action-oriented scripts are written for actresses. They aren’t just damsels in distress. More often than not, they are the ones in control. Whether it’s Katrina Kaif in Tiger Zinda Hai, Anushka Sharma in Sultan or Sonakshi Sinha in Akira, actresses, too, are getting well-sketched-out action parts to portray on screen.
Jacqueline, who has been part of quite a few actioners (Kick, A Flying Jatt, A Gentleman) never really got a chance to show her stuntbaazi. However, that is going to change now with Race 3. In fact, both Jackie and Daisy Shah have an elaborate action sequence; featuring only the two of them.
Says a source, “The Race franchise is all about the thrill — the twists and turns. In the third instalment, Jacqueline’s character (Jessica) and Daisy’s character (Sanjana) don’t get along. So much so that the movie has a huge catfight scene that will have the two actresses going head-on against each other.”
The two actresses have been learning different forms of action for their big scene. “It’s a hand-to-hand sequence that required the two actresses to do a lot of combat training. In all probability, their fight scene will be picturised in Abu Dhabi, where the team is currently filming the climax. Remo D’Souza and the action directors are planning and designing the whole sequence.”
There was always chatter about how two heroines never get along if they are shooting together, but today’s actresses have proved the myth wrong and how! While the two women will soon be clawing at each other on screen, they share a great camaraderie off it. “Both Jackie and Daisy are extremely friendly and they are always helping each other on the sets. They share a warm equation and this catfight is only for the screen,” says the source.
