Mahesh Bhatt stood by Sanjay Dutt in the 90s and gave him one of the most memorable roles of his career in 'Naam'.
Now the two are reuniting once again for a sequel of their 1991 hit Sadak. In an interview to Mumbai Mirror, Mahesh Bhatt gave details about this reunion. Bhatt said, " Sanjay who was 32 when we made the original, comes back as a 54-year-old Ravi into the 21st century world that is collapsing in front of his eyes, where the distinction between the house and the ‘sadak’ is fast disappearing. The story has the emotional connect of the films I made back in the’90s which brought a lump to the throats of the viewer. I could see that in the reaction of those present at the narration. They were visibly moved,” he smiles with satisfaction. Involved with writing and production for the film, Bhatt doesn't plan to return as a director for this one.
Excited about this film, Pooja Bhatt also shared a picture of Dutt and her father on Instagram and captioned it, "And the smile says it all! Pooja Bhatt added that it's Sadak 2 is going to have Dutt in every frame. She said, " While my character is unique, it is going to be about Sanju from the first frame to the last. It’s my father’s ode to him." While they are looking for young actors for the film as well, Mahesh Bhatt has no plans of casting Alia Bhatt. He said, “No, Alia is not going to be a part of this film. But it is going to bring back Pooja in a dazzling new avatar. "
The makers are planning to release Sadak 2 on August 31st 2018. Are you excited?
