'Kalank' Box Office Collection: Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt's film underperforms, witnesses a drop on Day 4

Kalank which released on Wednesday set a record of the biggest opening of 2019 so far. It beat the likes of Kesari, Gully Boy and Total Dhamaal. The movie minted Rs 21.60 crore on its opening day, as per trade analyst Taran Adarsh. However, it witnessed a 50% drop on the second day as it made about Rs 11.45 crore. On Friday, the film went on to show negligible growth with Rs 11.60 crore.

Now as per Taran, the film witnessed a drop on its first Saturday by making Rs 9.75 crore. He tweeted, "#Kalank is clearly underperforming... Dips on Day 4 [Sat]... Trending is weak, so big biz on Day 5 [Sun] is ruled out... Wed 21.60 cr, Thu 11.45 cr, Fri 11.60 cr, Sat 9.75 cr. Total: ₹ 54.40 cr. India biz."

The negative word of mouth impacted the film terribly and looks like it might not witness positivity at the box office from now on. However, Kalank has entered Rs 50 crore club at the domestic market as it made a total of Rs 54.40 crore in four days. We have to wait and see if the period drama makes it to Rs 100 crore club or not. Will the film show growth on Sunday? Only time will tell.
