Akshay Kumar has build up an image of modern day Bharat Kumar over the years. With back to back patriotic film releases like Airlift, Baby, Rustom, Holiday: A soldier is never off duty and of course his active involvement in welfare of soldiers makes him no less than a national hero. So much so that even when he is pitted against Rajinikanth in 2.0, Akki is not the bad guy.

Yes, according to a Deccan Chronicle report, Akshay Kumar is not playing the role of a baddie in Shankar's much-awaited sci-fi. One of the team members from the film said that Akki is the villain in 2.0. The costume and prosthetics suggest he plays an evil and ferocious character but in the role of Dr Richard, Akki is fighting for the right causes. Akshay's character will be seen struggling forces that are leading to devastation of the mother earth. 

2.0 crew member even confirmed that the anti-hero's character was tweaked when Akshay Kumar came on board. He revealed, “It was never a villainous part even when it was offered to Kamal Haasan. Once Akshay Kumar came in, even hints of negativity were removed as they clashed with his image of the national hero."

The makers of Rajinikanth,Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson starrer 2.0 recently unveiled a solo poster of Akshay from the film. Flaunting his beastly avatar, Akshay will be seen playing the antagonist Richard in 2.0 which is a sequel to the mega hit Enthiran. Rajinikanth will be seen reprising his role as the scientist Vaseegaran.

 

 

Recently, the audio of the film was launched in Dubai at a gala event. At the music launch, Akshaye had expressed that he feels Rajinikanth is the real superstar and thanked the director Shankar for giving him the opportunity to work with the legend that Rajinikanth is. "I could’ve never imagined that I will get a chance to work in such a big and costly film like 2.0" 

The movie is all set to hit the theatres on January 25. Interestingly, Akshay's Bollywood film Padman has been pre-poned to release on January 26. Looks like fans are in for a treat as it's going to be a double dose of Akshay Kumar at the ticket windows on this Republic Day.
