Actor Akshay Kumar is all set to mark a hattrick of Independence day releases with the upcoming sports drama 'Gold'. Excel Entertainment's most ambitious projects of the year 'Gold' is all set to emerge as Akshay Kumar's one of the biggest successes as the film ticks all marks required to be a super hit.

The sports drama is not only one of the most awaited films of the year but also Akshay's third independence day release after Rustom (2016)  and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017). 

Known for his patriotic films, Akshay Kumar is gearing up for the release of Gold which is based on free India's first ever gold for hockey as a free nation. In sync with the sentiment of the film, makers of Gold decided to release the film on Independence Day due to its historic significance.

India won its first gold medal as an independent nation at the Olympics on August 12, 1948. Celebrating this historic occasion, the makers are all set to release the film on the August 15, this year.  
 
Gold traces the journey of a man dreaming to win free India's first gold in hockey. The sports drama starring Akshay Kumar takes the audience back in time to witness the struggle of a team to make the nation proud.

The trailer of the film has successfully evoked the patriotic sentiments of the audience making it a must watch this Independence Day. The film has been shot across the UK and India, capturing the fascinating aspects of the pre-independent era. 

Starring Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Singh and Sunny Kaushal, Gold promises power packed performances by the ensemble cast.

Gold is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, helmed by Reema Kagti and is all set to release on August 15, 2018.
