Infosys, Wipro, Bosch, Tata Consultancy Services, and Texas Instruments are some of the big names that have already sent in their nominations.
While attempts are being made to give impetus to sustainable energy and green economy, Karnataka state government has made it more interesting by inducing competition into it. Centre for Sustainable Development through its new venture Integrate Green Ventures (IGV) is organising a two-day energy symposium and Vendors Conclave 2011 from May 13.
“Awards bring a sense of competition that enhances performance. Companies will start following the path of energy conservation and green building policies to win accolades, and our mission is achieved,” said Dr A Ravindra, advisor to chief minister on urban development.
Awards will be given out to four categories — corporates, industries, construction companies, and hospitality for best practices. Performance on reduction of carbon footprint and improvement of waste management will be the award metrics. Information for participation is put up on the website http://energyconclave.igv.co.in

There will be enriching interactions with Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission, Electricity Supply Companies, Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited and Bureau of Energy Efficiency and private corporate houses.
Dr Ravindra stressed, “There is a need for integrated sustainable energy policy for the state, and we are looking forward to form guidelines of such a policy through these conventions.”
