A lecturer from YMCA College registered a sexual harassment case accusing the college principal of physically and mentally torturing her for five years.

The complainant, Prathima Kumar (not the real name), had joined the college on December 12, 2005. She alleged that the principal L Malques had been harassing her since the time she joined the college.

“He wanted me to have an illicit relationship with him. I had opposed his moves, but he kept on harassing me mentally and physically, despite being married and having children. Whenever I wanted to complain, he requested me to keep quite. But now when things went out of control, my husband asked me to file a complaint,” said Kumar.

“Not only did he sexually and mentally harass me, he also used unparliamentary words against me,” said Kumar.

Kumar has demanded a detailed departmental enquiry into her complaint.
The Ulsoorgate police have filed a case under sections 354, 504 and 506 for criminal intimidation, outraging a woman’s modesty, threatening, abusing and assaulting. The investigation is on.
