The Karnataka high court will pronounce orders on the bail plea of HN Krishna, ex-chief of KPSC, on Thursday.

Krishna is facing allegations of nepotism in appointments. The CID police had filed a complaint against him on August 11. A local court had remanded him to judicial custody on October 12, thus he requested the HC to grant him bail. The case came up for hearing before justice H Billappa on Monday. He posted the case to November 24 for orders.

Krishna is accused of forcibly obtaining signatures of one candidate, Allah Baksh, on some documents and using them to disqualify him from the KPSC job he had got on merit. Further, there are allegations against KPSC officials that they were biased against and inclined towards certain categories at various stages of selection.

HC issues stay on MCI’s notification

The HC on Monday stayed the notification issued by Medical Council of India (MCI) for conducting a national-level entrance test for under-graduate and post-graduate students.

The Karnataka Private and Medical and Dental College Association, along with MS Ramaiah Medical College, had challenged the MCI’s notification about conducting national entrance test. The petitioners are demanding that the notification be quashed because the private colleges will not be able to make admissions on their own. Also, they contended that Karnataka students will not get importance.
