In a major setback to former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, the Lok Ayukta Court on Saturday issued summons to him, his sons BY Raghavendra and BY Vijayendra, his son-in-law RN Sohan Kumar and former minister Krishnaiah Setty and directors of Dhavalagiri Properties and directed them to appear on March 3 for their alleged involvement  in illegal land de-notification case.

Justice N K Sudhindra Rao has issued the summons concerning a case pertaining to de-notification of government land in Rachenahalli. The summons was also issued with regard to alleged illegal amalgamation of a public road on the outer ring road, belonging to the Vyyalikaval House Building Cooperative Society.

Justice Rao, while issuing summons, directed that the sons and son-in-law of the former chief minister to also represent in their capacity as the directors of Dhavalagiri Properties Ltd, apart from their personal capacity, when they appear on March 3. It may be recalled that advocate Sirajin Basha, after obtaining sanction from Governor HR Bhardwaj  had filed five complaints against Yeddyurappa, his sons and also son-in law.

Each complaint consists of three instances of land de-notification in and around Bangalore city.

It may be recalled that the special court had issued summons on August 8, 2011 to Yeddyurappa regarding two other cases of land de-notification. The former chief minister was in jail for 22 days concerning these two private complaints.

Yeddyurappa then had questioned the summons of the Lokayukta court concerning these two complaints in the high court. The high court on January 31 had dismissed the two petitions. The Lokayukta court has posted the hearing of these complaints on February 18 for commencement of trial.
