Santosh Kumar, a retired captain, is on an indefinite hunger strike,  demanding that the state government publish the provisional list of successful candidates of Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) without conducting revaluation and re-interview.

Captain Kumar, who is on an indefinite hunger strike since December 2 at the Freedom Park, said the cabinet’s decision of revaluation and re-interview would enable candidates who indulged in corrupt methods to get more marks and attend the interview.

“I want the government to come out with Criminal Investigation Department’s (CID’s) interim report, which consists the list of candidates who indulged in corrupt methods to get selected for the gazetted officer post. I want the government to exclude such candidates from the revaluation and re-interview process and punish them as per law,” said Captain Kumar.

He also demanded that the government publish the provisional list of successful candidates without any delay. “I have to undergo an indefinite fast as all our efforts for justice were futile. The cabinet decision for revaluation and re-interview of the candidates gazetted probationers examination 2011 would be big blow for candidates who scored high marks with their sincere efforts,” he said.

The authorities have not made any arrangement for an ambulance near the venue even five days after Capt Kumar began his indefinite fast.

One of the candidates who too appeared for the examination and is awaiting the provisional list said no official has paid a visit to Captain Kumar yet.
