Former BJP ideologue KN Govindacharya on Tuesday declared that he would lead a campaign through his Rastriya Swabhiman Andolan to cleanse politics. Speaking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan, Govindacharya said that he would stage a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to this effect.

He explained that he would urge the central government to fulfill the demands of providing 7% of the budget to gram panchayats. Each gram panchayat would get Rs40 lakh.

Provide Rs7,000 crore for improving judiciary to deliver justice quickly. “As many as four crore cases are pending before the courts. People will get huge benefits if these cases get disposed. However, the government is not interested. It is more interested in bailing out Air India from the financial crisis by providing Rs30,000 crore funds. The central government does not want common man,” he explained.

Govindacharya maintained that there seems to be no high command functioning in BJP. Since NDA chairperson LK Advani himself often expresses helplessness of being neglected in his close circles, what else can you expect, he asked.

When asked about the present state of BJP affairs, he maintained that all political parties are pro-rich and self-centered, and encourage ambition politics. “Political reforms are a must. The Election Commission should have more powers including that of deregistering a political party,” he said.
