More than 30,000 individuals have registered for the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Summit, which will take place in Gandhinagar from January 18 to 20, chief minister Vijay Rupani said on Tuesday. Rupani was speaking with reporters after reviewing final preparations for the mega business event at Mahatma Mandir. "More than 30,000 individual delegates have registered for the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2019. More than 26,000 companies have also registered for the Summit," Rupani said after inspecting the venue.

According to officials, delegates from as many as 115 countries, an all-time high number, are expected to take part in the three-day Summit, while 15 countries have partnered the biennial event.

Senior officials said that more than 30,000 Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs), a record of sorts, are expected to be signed at the Summit. However, the investment figures would not be announced, for what would be only the second time in nine editions of the event.

Prime minister Narendra Modi is slated to inaugurate the ninth edition of the Summit on Friday morning in the presence of presidents of Uzbekistan and Rwanda, and prime ministers of Czech Republic, Denmark, and Malta, besides ministers from a host of countries. Modi is also slated to have one-on-one meetings with the political leaders, besides participating in a round-table interaction with sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, and institutional investors.

The three-day Summit will see a number of country and state seminars, and other events, an MSME convention, among others.

PM Modi is slated to spend more than two days in Gujarat. He is slated to reach Ahmedabad on Thursday afternoon, and leave on Saturday morning.

The closing ceremony will be held in the presence of Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, the chief minister told reporters.
