US drone strike kills 7 suspected militants in Pakistan

A US drone targeted a vehicle in Pakistan's North Waziristan tribal region today, killing seven suspected militants.

The attack occurred near Mir Ali, 30km from Miramshah, the main town of North Waziristan Agency, which is described by US officials as a safe haven for Taliban and al-Qaeda elements who carry out strikes across the border in Afghanistan.

The unmanned spy plane fired two missiles that destroyed the vehicle.

The identity of the dead could not immediately be ascertained.
