Pakistan will share with Russia details of the recent killing of five Chechens by security forces in Quetta following the completion of investigations into the incident, foreign office spokesperson Tehmina Janjua said today.

Russia had sought details of the individuals killed in the incident in Quetta on Tuesday, Janjua told a weekly news briefing.

"At the moment investigations into this incident are underway and when we have details, we would share them with the Russian side," she said in response to a question.

The passport of one of the dead persons flashed in the media was a Russian one, Janjua said.

"So obviously the Russians have the right to know as to who these individuals were," she said.

Pakistani authorities have ordered two separate probes into the killing of the Chechens after a spate of media reports said they were unarmed and highlighted inconsistencies in statements by security officials.

Officials had initially claimed the Chechens - three women and two men - were suicide bombers linked to al-Qaeda.

An autopsy of the Chechens has revealed they died from "multiple bullet wounds", contradicting claims by officials that they died because of an explosion.

Though officials claimed the Chechens had weapons and suicide vests, media reports and witnesses said they were unarmed and not carrying any explosives.

Aslam Raisani, the chief minister of Balochistan, of which Quetta is the capital, yesterday ordered a judicial inquiry into the killings.

Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, the adviser to the prime minister on human rights, ordered a separate probe into the incident by the federal human rights ministry.
