A special parliamentary panel on Kashmir today pledged that Pakistan will continue extending "moral, political and diplomatic support" to the Kashmiri people for their "just struggle".

The Parliamentary Kashmir Committee made the pledge during a meeting presided over by its chairman Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam.

The meeting was also attended by leaders of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, information minister Qamar Zaman Kaira and senior officers of the foreign office.

Leaders of different Kashmiri political parties conveyed the message of their leaders in Srinagar to the parliamentary committee.

They urged Islamabad to evolve a "strong Kashmir policy as the wavering stand of various governments in Pakistan on the issue has weakened the Kashmir cause."

The leaders claimed the Kashmiri people did not "want to remain with India and need the moral and diplomatic support of Pakistan."
