Commemorating the fidayeen attackers who had assaulted the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul on June 28, the Haqqani network has released footage of its fighters getting commando training at a camp situated along the Pak-Afghan border in the North Waziristan tribal agency in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan.

The video has been released at a critical moment when President Asif Ali Zardari, while groaning under mounting US pressure to do more in the war against terror, has promised to work with the Americans to eradicate the Haqqani network from the Pakistani territory. The pledge was made during the president’s recent meeting with the visiting head of the US Homeland Security, Michael McCaul.

The 70-minute-long video of the Haqqani fighters being trained was released by Manba Al Jehad, a media unit of the Haqqani network, on November 10 and subsequently posted on pro-Taliban jehadi internet forums.
