Unions at Spanish airport operator Aena said on Wednesday they were calling 25 days of strikes spread over the next few months in protest at a lack of progress in negotiating better pay and working conditions.

If there is no progress in talks in the coming weeks, the strikes will start in mid-September and take place at weekends and on national holidays until the end of the year, the CCOO union's leader said.

Aena said last week it hoped to reach an agreement with the unions.

Passengers are already facing delays and long queues at Barcelona's El Prat airport because of a strike by staff from airport security company Eulen.
