White House placed under lockdown briefly

The White House was placed under lockdown  briefly after a suspicious package was found, news agency ANI reported. 

The US Secret Service and the Washington DC police department attended to an unattended package near North Fence of White House Complex. 

As a precaution, the Secret Service initially sent everyone including mediapersons to the briefing room. The Secret Service in a tweet said that, “Pedestrian traffic along Penn Ave between 15th & 17th and the area of LaFayette Park is restricted due to law enforcement activity.”

It later tweeted

@SecretService and @DCPoliceDept have cleared the unattended package near the north fence line of the @WhiteHouse Complex

At the time of the lockdown, US President Donald Trump was not inside the White House.
