Tibetan activists from India, Nepal, the United States and Europe converged for the International Rangzen or Tibet's Independence Conference here yesterday and sought complete independence for their homeland from Chinese rule through the non-violent method.

Various challenges faced by the people living in Tibet was also discussed during the conference

"We reaffirmed our unflinching belief that independence is the goal of our struggle and we will have it anyway. We discussed so many different ways of achieving it. At the same time, we found that non-violence is our method. Following his holiness the Dalai Lama, we will achieve a free and an independent Tibet," said Tibetan activist Tenzin Tsundue.

"We discussed wide ranging issues of Tibet, most importantly the recent crisis in Tibet, which is resulting in the self-immolation of Tibetans. The brutal Chinese regime continues to crack down violently on the Tibetans," Tsundue added.

Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama, however, maintains that he is merely seeking greater autonomy for his Himalayan homeland within the Chinese rule and denies espousing violence.
