On Thursday, a day after the terrorist attack on the French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo killed 12, an 18-year-old boy considered as a suspect 'surrendered' to police. His ID card was allegedly found in an abandoned car that may have been used by the attackers to flee. The boy, identified as Mourad Hamyd, 'surrendered' himself to the French police after he saw his name doing rounds on the social media.

The boy has been finding support in his school mates who claim that he was not involved in the attack and that he was in a class with them at that time. #MouradHamydInnocent has been trending on  Twitter where his classmates are defending him.

Hamyd, a student of Charleville-Mezieres near Reims has been named as one of the three suspects- the other two suspects are Said Kouachi and Cherif Kouachi who are still at large. Reports say, that Hamyd was the one who drove the car and that he left behind his ID card after abandoning the car. But people have voiced on Twitter of a possible decoy.

Translation: "Mourad Hamyd is wrongly accused, it was underway at the time d facts, his comrades of classes can testify !!"

Another tweet also said,  "What is this madness, the Mourad Hamyd was with me this morning".

In April last year, after the Boston Marathon bombing episode, Reddit, a news website, posted a picture of a missing student Sunil Tripathi compared to one of the suspects behind the bombing. It was later proved that Tripathi had nothing to do with the attack and Reddit apologised for this. Tripathi is still missing.
