Saudi prince gets killed in chopper crash near Yemen border

Saudi Arabia's prince Mansour Bin Muqrin was killed in a chopper crash on Sunday near the kingdom's southern border with war-torn Yemen, state media reported. 

The news channel Al-Ekhbariya confirmed the death of Saudi's prince.

Mansour bin Moqren was the deputy governor of Asir province and son of a former crown prince. The reason behind the chopper crash is still unknown. 

At present, it has not been confirmed yet that how many people were on the flight, but multiple people are feared dead, the publication reported.

According to the initial reports, the crash happened when the prince was taking a helicopter tour of development projects near the coast.

The unfortunate news came after a day Saudi Arabia intercepted a ballistic missile fired from Yemen near the capital, Riyadh.

Earlier, 11 princes including prominent billionaire investor Prince Alwaleed bin Talal and dozens of current and former ministers were arrested in Saudi Arabia on Saturday a night after the formation of an anti-corruption committee by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud. 

The dramatic shake-up comes at a time of unprecedented social and economic transformation in ultra-conservative Saudi Arabia, as Prince Mohammed steps up his reform drive for a post-oil era.

Saudi-owned Al Arabiya television reported that 11 princes, four current ministers and dozens of ex-ministers were arrested as the commission launched a probe into old cases such as floods that devastated the Red Sea city of Jeddah in 2009.
