Massive blast in China's Tianjin, hundreds hospitalized

There are reports of a massive explosion in China's Tianjin city the cause of which is not certain yet.

A video footage and pictures circulating online of the explosion suggest that there are many wounded and possibly dead, according to the BBC.

Reports suggest that hundreds have been hospitalized after the explosion. The blast occured in the Tianji Binhai New Development Zone at about 23:30 (15:30 GMT).

The Chinese state broadcaster CCTV says that several towers and buildings around the explosion are out of power. Tianjin is situated at the south-east of the Chinese capital Beijing and is a major port.
