Indian-American US presidential aspirant Bobby Jindal impressed everyone as he took the lead in launching an attack against Republican front-runner Donald Trump, whose growing popularity has unnerved other party candidates, during the second-tier presidential debate.
Jindal, 44, though was relegated to the second tier of the debate along with three others because of their low popularity ratings, his vociferous attack on the billionaire businessman was felt even during the main prime-time debate which lasted for several hours.
"Let us stop treating Donald Trump like a Republican. He's not a conservative. He's not a liberal. He's not a Democrat. He's not a Republican. He's not an independent," Jindal said at the top of the start of the Republican presidential candidates.
"Do we depend on proven conservative principles like Ronald Reagan did, or do we turn this over to a narcissist who only believes in himself," said Jindal in response to the first question thrown to him by the popular CNN anchor Jake Tapper.

"I don't have a famous last name. My daddy didn't run for president. I don't have a reality TV show. I'll tell you what I do have, I've got the backbone, I've got the bandwidth, I've got the experience to get us through these tough times, to make sure that we don't turn the American dream into the European nightmare," Jindal said in his opening remarks amidst applause from the audience.
Later Jindal campaign declared victory as several media outlets gave high marks to the performance of the two-term Governor from Louisiana. "It was Louisiana Gov Bobby Jindal who established himself as the most die-hard conservative on the stage," Politico reported.
"For Louisiana Gov Bobby Jindal, the thing to underline was his hard-line challenge to Washington Republicans, who he said were caving in the face of Democratic pressure," The Washington Post said. "Bobby Jindal won the first debate. He won because he wasn't willing to be a Republican partisan. He put his country first and told the truth," Red State said in its news report.
Thereafter rest of the pack of the Republican presidential candidates continued to attack Trump throughout the night. The real estate tycoon who was not present on the podium in the first debate, but was given the center stage in the prime-time portion of the debate, strongly held his fort in response to every charges made against him by his other Republican colleagues.
