India ready to move to a different future with 'New Pakistan', says Ajay Bisaria

The Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria, who unfurled the national flag at the High Commission premises to mark 72nd Independence Day, hoped to build bridges and relations with a new Pakistan, which would be different from the past. Talking to WION on the sidelines of the function, he said it was a special moment in Pakistan as well, and hoped to move forward with the new Pakistan. The incumbent PM of Pakistan Imran Khan has vowed to build a "New Pakistan". "Hope to move towards a new future, which should be different than the 71 years of the past," said the High Commissioner.

He said India was ready to go ahead with the hope of developing a peaceful and prosperous South Asia. "We wish to go ahead with the hope that South Asia will be violence free, and we also hope to go in a new direction," Bisaria said. He said that India was dealing with the world, with the underlining philosophy that the world is one family.

High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria began Independence Day celebrations by paying floral tributes to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. The occasion was marked by hoisting of the national flag, singing of the National Anthem, and a cultural programme.

Earlier, Pakistan's High Commissioner in New Delhi Sohail Mahmood had termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to Imran Khan, after he won the elections, a positive development. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi calling PTI chairman Imran Khan after the results of the general election. And, it is hoped that such positive developments will lead to the betterment of ties," he said, while presiding the celebrations of Pakistan's Independence Day at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.
