In the aftermath of the beheading of American journalist, James Foley, Washington is considering launching attacks targeting individual Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) leaders.
Ben Rhodes, Deputy National Security Adviser, said before conducting an air strike targetting the ISIS near the Mosul Dam that the United States is ready to take action against any threat that emanates from anywhere. He warned the militant group that if it comes after America, America will come after it no matter where it is and added that this ideology is going to govern the U.S.'s military planning in the days to come, reported The Guardian.
United States officials admitted that there was now a "new context" for taking on the ISIS following the gruesome beheading of the American journalist.
The militant organization declared a caliphate in June and has conquered large swathes of territory in Iraq and Syria. It recently released a video online showing the beheading of an American journalist and called it an act of retaliation against the United States military operations targetting the group in Iraq.
