A former Chinese lawmaker and hotel magnate was today sentenced to life for organising prostitution, collusive tendering and bribery.

Liang Yaohui, owner of a five-star hotel, was found guilty of organising prostitution, bid-rigging and corporate bribery by the Intermediate People's Court in Dongguan City, where a high-profile crackdown on prostitution took place in 2014, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

According to the court, Liang's hotel had been offering prostitution services since 2004 and illegally gained nearly 40 million yuan (USD 6 million) in 2013.

Liang was also accused of colluding in entering bids which inflicted serious losses on national assets, and bribing a deputy manager of local power company for lower non- commercial electricity charges.
