A blast has been reported from an Indian restaurant in Mississauga, Ontario Canada.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj just tweeted the alert, saying the restaurant Bombay Bhel had a blast in it.

"There is a blast in Indian restaurant Bombay Bhel in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. I am in constant touch with our Consul General in Toronto and Indian High Commissioner in Canada. Our missions will work round the clock. The Emergency number is  : +1-647-668-4108," she tweeted.

Police have said that two individuals were seen entering the restaurant and detonating an explosive device. The were wearing jeans, a hooded jacket and had covered their face. The fled immediately after the incident. "One is 5 feet 10 inches and the other is six feet tall," a police officer told CNBC News.

At least 15 people were injured in a powerful explosion at an Indian restaurant in Canada's Ontario province, media reports said today.

Paramedics have transported 15 pts. from The Bombay Bhel restaurant in Mississauga. 3 patients were taken to trauma centres with critical blast injuries. The extent of injuries is still being assessed.

Police are calling it "suspicious" incident, the report said.

It was not immediately known as how many people were inside the restaurant when the incident took place.

The restaurant was evacuated and the plaza is expected to be sealed off for investigation until at least morning, the report added.
