The Mayor of New York, too, was critical of the United States pulling out of the Paris Climate Deal

US President Donald Trump invoked the city of Pittsburgh during his speech where he said the United States will be pulling out of the Paris Climate Deal.
On defending his stance, President Trump said, “I was elected to represent the people of Pittsburgh, not Paris.”
This statement, however, did not go down too well with Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto, who said that 80% of that city voted for Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton

Meanwhile, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio took to Twitter to criticise the United State’s decision to pull out of the climate deal
Abandoning the Paris accords will be horribly destructive to the Earth and horribly destructive for New York City.

New York City has seen the destructive power of nature in the age of climate change thanks to Hurricane Sandy.

The Paris accord was the biggest step forward on climate change that we’d taken in years. It’s unconscionable for @POTUS to abandon it.

On behalf of New York City, I will commit to honor the goals of the Paris agreement with an Executive Order in the coming days.
