An earthquake measuring 6.3 Rchter scale struck off Maluku in eastern parts of Indonesia on Wednesday, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency reported in Jakarta.
The quake struck at 15:56 Jakarta time (0856 GMT) with epicenter at 157 km northwest Tual of Maluku and with the depth at 12 km under sea bed, an official of the agency told Xinhua by phone.
Indonesia sits on a vulnerable quake hit zone so called "the Pacific Ring of Fire."
