4.1-magnitude aftershock jolts Nepal

A 4.1-magnitude aftershock of last year's devastating Gorkha earthquake was recorded in Nepal on Wednesday, the third tremor in the past week to jolt the same area and a day after a 4.6-magnitude quake. The aftershock occurred in Dolakha district, 90 km east of Kathmandu, with its epicentre located between Lankuridanda and Phusapheda villages at 2.14 PM (local time), according to the National Seismological Centre.

It was the third aftershock of last year's devastating earthquake that was recorded in the district in the past one week. Another 4.6-magnitude, tremor was recorded at around the same location in the district on Tuesday while on October 7, an aftershock measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale was recorded in the district.

The NSC has so far recorded some 471 significant aftershocks since the April 25, 2015 devastating quake of 7.8-magnitude that killed nearly 9,000 people.
