'The Crown' star Claire Foy named BAFTA's Britannia artist of the year

The Crown actor Claire Foy will receive the BAFTA's Britannia artist of the year award for her "outstanding performances in a year".

The 33-year-old star will be honoured alongside Ava DuVernay and Dick Van Dyke on October 27 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel here, reported Deadline.

"Claire is the perfect encapsulation of the enduring legacy of British talent succeeding on a global stage," said BAFTA Los Angeles Chairman Kieran Breen.

"Her performances this year have been nothing short of phenomenal, including of course her iconic role in 'The Crown' portraying the longest ever serving British monarch in history."

Foy played Queen Elizabeth II in Netflix's biographical drama.

Her other television credits include Wolf Hall, Crossbones, Little Dorrit, White Heat, Upstairs Downstairs.

She joins BAFTA's previously announced honorees Van Dyke, who will receive the Britannia Award for Excellence in Television, and DuVernay, who will be feted with the John Schlesinger Britannia Award for Excellence in directing.
