Hafthor Julius Bjornsson, who plays the formidable Mountain in the HBO series Game of Thrones, is once agains the World's Strongest Man, the New York Times reported.

Bjornsson, 29, has been a regular in the competition and had three second- and three third-place finishes over the years, but had never previously won.

In 2016, Bjornsson had said he wanted to become the strongest man in the world.

Despite two consecutive wins in the European strongest man title in 2014 and 2015, Iceland-born Bjornsson fell short of a hat trick in 2016.

Bjornsson is expected to return to "Game of Thrones" in the show's eighth season, which will hit TV screens next year.
