Xiaomi will most likely unveil the Mi 7 during Mobile World Congress next month. Just a few weeks before launch, an unofficial render of the smartphone has surfaced online which offers a glimpse of the design.

Based on the image, the smartphone sports a complete glass back. Rumours suggest that there are chances, the Mi 7 may support wireless charging, and also come with dual cameras.

According to Naijatechguide, the device will sport a 6.01-inch bezel less display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It will be powered by the latest chipset, Snapdragon 845, along with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. It also expected to be backed by a 3000mAh battery. Lastly, the smartphone might also include the ability to unlock the smartphone with your face, similar to the technology spotted on the iPhone X.

Apart from the Mi 7, the company is also expected to unveil the Redmi Note 5 this year. A report points out that the device will be released sometime in the second quarter of 2018, and will spot the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC.

According to MySmartPrice, the launch of the smartphone has been slightly delayed as Xiaomi is waiting for Qualcomm to release the octa-core Snapdragon 632 SoC, a minor downgrade over the Snapdragon 636 chipset that was announced in October last year. We can expect a slightly lower clock speed as well as a lower-clocked GPU. However, the Snapdragon 632 is expected to retain the Qualcomm Spectra 160 ISP, which offers better optimization for dual-camera setups than the Snapdragon 625.

In November last year, the device was briefly listed on China’s online retailer JD.com, suggesting that the launch is in the pipeline. Though the teaser had no mention regarding specifications, it did have a placeholder price of CNY 8,888 (approximately Rs 88,000). Most probably, this will not be the official price tag of the smartphone. To recall, the Redmi Note 4 was launched in January.

Sometime ago, two smartphones - Redmi MET7 and Redmi MEE7 – made an appearance on TENAA, which are believed to be the two new variants of the Redmi 5. The only difference between both variants would be in terms of internal memory and storage capacity.
