OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus 6 will launch in June this year and will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC.

In conversation with CNET, during CES 2018, Pete Lau stated that the company would opt for the Snapdragon 845 as "there's no other choice". Additionally, the company is also in talks with US telecom carriers for sales of its headsets. He says, “If the right opportunity and right timing come along, we'll be very happy to experiment".

According to reports, OnePlus has plans to integrate advanced face recognition technology on the OnePlus 6. Also, the hardware setup will be similar to that of the iPhone X and that the OP6 will make use of an infrared 3D camera module, which will be located on the front of the device. Interestingly, the OnePlus 6 will not include the ‘notch’ similar to the iPhone X, as the whole setup would be located on the top bezel.

Apart from this feature, the OnePlus 6 might come with an under-glass fingerprint scanner too. Currently, the OnePlus 5T has the fingerprint scanner placed at the back, due to its 18:9 display on the front.

In October, a report pointed out that the upcoming OnePlus 6 will sport an all-new design. In terms of specifications, the smartphone is said to feature a 6-inch bezel-less screen with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a QHD Plus (2880 x 1440) resolution.

Similar to the OnePlus 5, the new device will be available in two variants – 6GB RAM with 64GB internal storage and 8GB RAM with 128GB internal storage. Most importantly, the company may follow the price bracket similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 and Apple’s iPhone X and price the OnePlus 6 as high as $1000.
