Teams coming to the country for the FIFA U-17 World Cup have tried various things to get used to the Indian conditions. While some like New Zealand and Brazil touched down in India early, some flew to the Middle East.
The most interesting and out of the box idea, though, came from the Paraguay team.

The South American nation, which will take on Mali in a Group B encounter at the DY Patil Stadium on Friday, trained from 2am back in their country to alter their body clock and get used to the Indian conditions.

"It was a beautiful experience," Paraguay coach Gustavo Morinigo said here on Thursday. "It was already planned. There is a time difference of eight-and-a-half hours from Paraguay and India. They are accustomed now to the timing."

Of the four encounters on the opening day, the clash between Mali and Paraguay will be the one to watch out for as they are two of the best teams in the business.

Although they haven't won the tournament, they have put on a show every time. While Mali were the runners-up in the last edition in 2015, Paraguay's best performances was a quarterfinal berth in 1999.

Mali coach Jonas Komla said the aim will be to qualify for the knockouts.

"Everyone has their own aspect. First we will concentrate to get away from the pool (stage) and we are looking to the matches one after the other," Komla said.

Morinigo admitted that they have a tough group. "We have a very difficult group which has Mali who are already the favourites. Turkey, which we have seen are working well with the coach and they too have the potential while New Zealand eliminated us in the last World Cup in Chile (in 2015)," he said.
