Indian football skipper Sunil Chhetri who scored a brace in the historic 4-1 win against Thailand said that the victory was more special after knowing he made a country proud even if it was for a day.

The captain had scored in the 27th (penalty) and 46th minutes for his 66th and 67th goals to become the second highest international goal scorer among active players.

Midfielder Anirudh Thap and substitute Jeje Lalpekhlua added to the goals to give India the 4-1 victory.

India also recorded its first victory in the Asian Cup since 1964.
