Asian Games 2018: Indian archers enter semi-final in Compound Women's Team Event

India on Sunday won two silver medals in the ongoing 18th edition of the Asian Games after they finished second on the podium in Equestrian individual and team events.

Indian Equestrian player Fouaad Mirza finished second after scoring a total of 26.40 points while in the team event, the Indian side finished with 121.30 points to give the country two additional silver medal.

While Yoshiaki Oiwa of Japan clinched gold with a total of 22.70 points, Alex Tian Hua of China settled for a bronze medal after finishing with a score of 27.10 points.

In Equestrian team events, it was the Japanese side which claimed the top spot with a score of 82.40 points, while Thailand finished third after a score of 126.70 points.

In Archery, India entered the semi-final round after a 229-224 win over host nation Indonesia in Compound Women's Team quarterfinals.

India's total medal tally at the prestigious tournament now stands at 31 with seven gold, seven silver and seventeen bronze medals.

Earlier, defending champions India reached the quarterfinals of the men's compound team, edging out a fighting Qatar 227-213 in the 1/8 Elimination round at the Asian Games on Sunday.

The team comprising Abhishek Verma, Aman Saini and Rajat Chauhan won all four sets. However, the second and third sets were very close with scores being 65-55 and 56-54.

Abhishek and Chauhan were part of the team that won gold in Incheon four year ago. The Indian team next faces Philippines.
