Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has been named in the team to face fierce rivals Manchester City in Saturday's early Premier League clash (1145 GMT).

The England international, who has scored 34 goals in all competitions this season for United, has shaken off an ankle injury to give Alex Ferguson's side a boost as they look to put pressure on league leaders Chelsea.

Second-placed United trail Chelsea, who travel to Tottenham Hotspur later on Saturday (1630 GMT), by four points with four games remaining.

A victory for fourth-placed City at Eastlands could end United's chances of a record 19th league title while consolidating their own bid for the final Champions League qualifying spot.
