MUMBAI: Middle-order batsman Punit Tripathi bailed out Rizvi Sports Club in the quarterfinal round of the 12th Ajit Naik Memorial under-15 cricket championship against MCA, Vashi, at the Cross Maidan here on Tuesday.
The championship is also the selection trials of the Mumbai Cricket Association (U-15) squad.
Tripathi scored an unbeaten century putting up two useful partnerships for the 4th and 7th wicket, as the side were bundled out for 267.
The class IX student from Bandra’s Rizvi Springfield High School mounted 75 runs with Mohammad Gulam Sabir for the fourth wicket, and 65 runs for the seventh wicket with Rohit Gupta.
MCA Vashi were 20 for one in reply when the stumps were drawn on the opening day of the two-day encounter.
Manan Shah of SPG-BPL Academy wrecked New Hind Sports Club with a six wicket haul, as the latter were bundled out for 66 — the lowest score of the day. While SPG-BPL were comfortably set at 153 for five in return.
In another clash, a five-wicket haul by Nehal Katakdhond saw Elf Vengsarkar Cricket Academy bundle out MCA Vasai for a meagre total of 77.
In reply, Elf were sitting pretty at 133 for 3 when the stumps were drawn. Mayuresh Tandel scored a brilliant half century.
Omkar Bhoir (21) and Nikhil Khaire (25) were the run getters.
Prasad Patil emerged as the most successful bowler for MCA Thane scalping — five wickets to fold out Deeplo Sports Club for 117.
