Sunil Chettri is AIFF's player of the year

The Delhi boy was chosen the winner by I-League coaches who voted on a list of five players shortlisted for the award.

India forward Sunil Chettri, who has scored 13 goals in 17 international matches, was adjudged Player of the Year by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) in Delhi on Tuesdy.

The Delhi boy was chosen the winner by I-League coaches who voted on a list of five players shortlisted for the award. Chettri has also scored 11 goals in 20 appearances for I-League club Mohun Bagan this year. He was also conferred with the Arjuna Award and won the Man of the Championship in the recently concluded SAFF Championship in New Delhi.

The AIFF will honour Chettri with  a cash award of Rs2,00,000 and a silver plaque.

"Sunil has had an outstanding year winning many accolades and I'm sure he will continue his good form in the New Year both for the country and his club," said Kushal Das, secretary-general of AIFF.
