Steve Waugh for action only after Ashes loss emotions settle down

Former Australia captain Steve Waugh has called for patience in any review of Australian cricket, saying emotions need to settle down before anything is decided.

"It needs clear thinking and clear heads and just the hysteria right now, once that settles down, there’s some planning ahead,” Fox Sports quoted Waugh, as saying.

“Look at whether there is going to be some sort of review, there probably is and there probably needs to be, because at the end of the day it was a very comprehensive victory and England were far ahead of us.”

“Where have we gone wrong? I’m not sure, but just wait a week or so and then some more common sense might come into the argument,” he added.

England wrapped up the series 3-1 following their win in the fifth Test at the SCG by an innings and 83 runs.

The victory gave the visitors their first Test series win in Australia since the 1986-87 tour.

It is also the first time that Australia has lost three matches in a series by more than an innings in 135 years of Test cricket.
